Trailer park blues

I'm not quite happy with my B&W conversion yet.
But I'd say It's good enough for a Friday afternoon blog post.

Piggy in the middle

Why is it you only see traffic cops when there's no traffic?

Sky burn sunrise

As winter approaches there is a much greater chance of me making it up for sunrise.
Even yesterday, which was a public holiday.

Pit stop

I've been wanting to snap this portable toilet for a while now.
This photo doesn't portray the isolation of it, but I still like it.

Passing afternoons

Now while I regard modernist architecture as having the aesthetics of a brick, this particular reflective surface has given me a wide variety of photos.

Night driving

Our main street is pretty much on the 8-5 clock.
Go there after hours and you don't find much.
Works for my camera.

A bit of yin for yesterdays yang

The view from here

For those of you who know PE, you'd be over there in the distance, looking this way...

Sky and sea

Here's another "I like it but don't know why" pics.
I think it has enough atmosphere to draw me in.

Blow out

I found this bad boy lying next to the freeway, I hope the driver came out O.K.

Absolutely, under no circumstances

This is one of those "do not even THINK of parking here" set ups.
And it seems to work, as it's clear!

But is it art? II

Coming through the front door at work yesterday I looked down and saw these two gems that had blown in from the street.
That's a lotto ticket on the right if you were wondering.
And the back of the pamphlet was too good not to share.

Cracks in the system

There you go honestmum. Some more barbed wire for you. As found in city centres and on the outskirts.

Non-North End Tuesday

More photographs from the front line outskirts of Port Elizabeth.
It does fall into the broader theme of the lesser-known parts of town, so it works for me :-)

The last days of Summer

My favourite part of this one? The car on blocks in the corner.
Now you see, when the yuppies move in, cool stuff like this will be gone forever!

The golden years

Once upon a time huge amounts of money were being made from the international ostrich feather trade.
Probably the best example in PE is the Feathermarket Centre. I have also seen pictures of the "ostrich feather palaces", mansions built by farmers in the middle of nowhere. Those are often a case of  more money than taste.

As far as this place goes: I'd take it for a studio any day.

Night Light

This must be one of the oldest lamp posts in PE.

Autumn

My walk home from work coincides with some good light at the moment.

No more Cokes

More pictures of urban decay from the front line.
Places like this are disappearing though, being replaced by new warehouses.

National Health

The writing on the green strip is NHLS - National Health Laboratory Services.
A phrase that to my mind always seems to imply some sort of ambiguity.
No idea why though.

Red dragon

I usually stay away from hulking cars in the foreground, but yesterday for no reason I had the urge to include this behemoth.
Of course what caught my eye was the huge red truck in the background. So in the interest of "whatever catches my eye" here you go.
