New coat of paint

As my current work project nears completion, I can lift my eyes (and my camera).

Usually when the light breaks through like this, it's gone by the time I get my camera out.

But the heavens obliged today.

So how do you see the future of the human race?

Are we going to overcome our current precarious position through innovation and change,

or are we going to keep doin it the way we have always been doin it, and choke on our own waste products?

Dirt and dust

I do experience idyllic days in the harbour, but lately it has tended towards the gritty end of the spectrum.

Steel and skyscrapers

Okay, not really skyscrapers, but here in the sleepy hollow of Port Elizabeth, it is to us.

A visitor from the U.K. once said to me "so you obviously go to the bigger centers when you go on holiday"

And I said something like "No, I prefer to find the smallest place I can"

Right now I'd settle for a day off :-)

Another infrequent post from the harbour worker, but I couldn't ignore this one.

Exciting stuff!

Harbour panorama

In the foreground on the left is a wooden yacht that was a scout vessel in the battle of Normandy in the second world war, and is in the the process of being restored.

In the foreground on the right is a luxury yacht belonging to a German father and son, who are on their third round the world trip, it has also just finished being repaired.

And in the center? Me, on the deck of the yacht that I am repairing!

It looks like Port Elizabeth is the place to be if you need fixing.
